The GLP-1 Journey

Making the decision to use a GLP-1 medication for weight loss is a significant step towards achieving your health goals. However, it's important to recognise that this journey is not just about medication; it's also about establishing a well-rounded, nutritious diet that supports your body’s needs during this transition.

You may find your appetite is significantly reduced. This makes it important that you have a small but high quality diet to support your nutrition during this period. It may be necessary to take supplements to support the food you eat.

Rapid weight loss increase your risk of losing lean tissue (muscle) as well as fat. Lots of studies show that maintaining muscle mass age we age keeps us healthy for longer. Diet can support maintaining and even increasing muscle mass. Support can also be provided to ensure you are doing enough of the right type of exercise to maintain muscle.

You may be concerned that once you stop taking the medication, you will regain the weight. It's normal to be worried about this. During the programme, you will be supported to develop healthier eating habits so you feel more confident about coming off the medication. Regular checks with your Dietitian can reassure and motivate you to stick to your new eating style.
